In these strange days of change and isolation

We are all in danger, the killer doing the rounds today is invisible and dangerous because of that. Too many people are protesting about the lockdown, they hate being cooped up so go out and refuse to social distance, bumping into people who are most at risk from the virus and not caring how many people they may infect and kill.

How many of you out there are like me? Having an underlying health condition, also having mental illness where the isolation is driving you nuts? Then look at those idiots who are out and about with friends and neighbours and not social distancing, they could be infected because it can take up to 2 weeks, 14 days, for the symptoms to show and then they are still contagious for the same period after they lose the symptoms. They don’t care if they infect you or me and we die as a result of their idiocy and deserve to be locked up for putting people’s lives in danger. They are, after all, guilty of attempted murder.

I have noticed that POTUS45 is still all over social media putting his eugenics out there for all to see, sounding crazier than ever but, still the racists in the US love him, makes no sense to me. Our PM on the other hand has done another disappearing act, seems to me that every time the country needs a leader he goes missing. The current leader of the opposition keeps pushing for an exit strategy to be announce instead of asking what is going to be done to prevent idiots going around in gangs and destroying property which our carers need in order to do their jobs, that is being left to the previous leader of the opposition to do from the sidelines.

Of course the MSM, seeing that the Labour Party is now being led by another Blairite into a second spasm of Tory Lite is backing them to take power, just like they did in 1997 when we ended up with Blair. What this country needs is a united party which will work to get elected into Government instead of working against that goal as happened last year. We would not be in this mess if Jeremy Corbyn had been elected since his first priority was to give the NHS the funding it needed to be ready for this crisis. It may have hit too quickly but he would have called the lockdown in February rather than waiting until the end of March.

Other countries, when they locked down earlier have recorded fewer deaths than Italy and Spain, we could have done the same but for a Government hell bent on trying to kill off as many elderly, young and weakened people as possible. The official death toll is only those dying from COVID-19 in hospital, there are those dying at home or in care homes from this disease who are not being counted therefore the actual total is probably closer to 50,000 or even higher. We need to test everybody then we will have an idea of how widespread this disease has already spread. Unfortunately the Government doesn’t want to do this since they are still trying to kill people off.

Now that tRump is blatantly blaming China it won’t be very long before our politicians do the same, after all they have already blamed the population who are not staying at home, the health workers and manufacturers of PPE and ventilators for not getting in touch with them. The truth is that when these manufacturers did contact ministers they were ignored and then sold their equipment to European countries in order to clear their stocks and get them out where they were needed. tRump should have called for a blanket lockdown in every State in the Union and Washington DC as well. Then he would have saved lives, but just like our PM, he refused to do this, looking instead to the 51 Governors to do his job for him.

If we don’t remain indoors as much as possible then the lockdown will never be eased, we will remain prisoners in our own minds and suffer the consequences of this as we go further into despair and those who refuse to social distance and go against the flow in our supermarkets will extend this indefinitely until a cure is found to stop this disease in its tracks. I think that Governments around the world owe it to their citizens to work together to find a cure and there should be an end to all hostilities everywhere now. After all, why try to kill your neighbours when the virus is killing your citizens?

It’s a little bit funny how the days blend into one

It feels a little like the apocalypse has happened and this is what is left for us today, nothing but remaining inside with very little physical contact with others unless you are able to stay indoors with your significant others. I was thinking of calling this post “When is a spade not a spade” but realised that could be construed as racist (I’m not above courting controversy but not in regards to race).

If we learn nothing from this pandemic then we deserve to be wiped out as a species once it is over. It should be teaching us a very valuable lesson in that we all rely on each other to keep us safe and society should be different once the lockdowns end in our respective countries. Don’t let anyone tell you that there won’t be another strain of deadly virus coming along soon because there will be unless we work together to end climate change, preserve the wildlife we have and encourage the maintenance of the natural habitats needed to prevent further extinction of species.

The different countries of the planet will have to work together more than ever and we should not be talking of this country or that country but this planet needs us all to unite before further damage is done to the eco-system we are all part of. Everyone is in this together and we have to ensure there is enough for everyone among us. Enough healthcare, enough food and medicine, enough natural habitat for our animal neighbours and stop destroying this planet because it is fighting back and since we are the virus it is trying to destroy us before we destroy it.

It’s time to make a stand and I have been fighting alone, sniping at people from the hidden vantage point but the time has come to unite with everyone who feels as I do that this is the time for action. It is not a time to play politics with lives, that has been happening since the end of the 20th Century and we are worse off now because of the oil barons and OPEC bringing out of the ground those carbons the planet buried long ago. Time to move on to a new world order and new world powering source, electricity can be generated in other ways than oil or gas fired plants. We have to change our ways now, today, before it’s too late to do so.

Now is not the time for walls between countries, or separating from neighbours, now is the time to all come together and create a united planet, this won’t be easy with the current politicians we have in power but we, the people, have to demand our governments work in unison for the benefit of all. Capitalism creates poverty and this has almost destroyed the planet in creating profit for those already wealthy so it is time for a different plan. A new plan which will put people ahead of greed, there are much more poor people than wealthy people and if we rise up together and demand action to share the wealth for the benefit of everyone that doesn’t mean the wealthy becoming poor, they will just stop making obscene profits from destruction and work together to stop poverty, destruction of the planet in the name of profit and healing the sick.

Just imagine the good they could do if they were forced to use their massive wealth in order to provide free health care for all, free schools for all, free education to everyone at any time they wanted to use it? This wouldn’t make them bankrupt any more than paying their workers a decent living wage so no family had to have two working partners to keep their head above water. I am not going to be popular with either the leaders of the UK or the USA by proposing this but it is time for a global change providing for the rights of every citizen globally to live in peace, where they want to live, without restriction on movement and cost of travel. I am proposing that everyone on the planet works together for the benefit of all, greed is outlawed and profit becomes a dirty word. Whether we still pay for food and other essentials in the longer term will depend on how credit is managed today.

From time to time the price of freedom has to be paid in blood and this has to be done in order for every man, woman and child to be free. We all come into the world in the same way, from a woman, and all exit the same way, in death. Doesn’t it make sense for us all to work together for the benefit of all while here? You may call me a dreamer, but I’m not the only one, I hope some day you join us and the world can indeed live as one. Thank you for reading this far, dear reader.

Monday Week 6 of lockdown in the UK

I tend to get the feeling that our politicians only care about us at election times. I don’t want to drag this down to the level I have been feeling recently (the reason I haven’t been on here for a while). I hope you’re doing well, staying home as much as possible and keeping yourself and your loved ones safe.

As I said I don’t want to drag anyone down to the levels I’ve been feeling recently, what with being cooped up and looking as though the death toll here in the UK is going to top 150,000 because of the slow speed our Prime Minister took to lock down the country. Now on the brighter side I have found some things to smile about recently, hence the reason I’m back writing on here. If you haven’t watched it yet there is a movie about the beginning of Transformers being here on Earth and it’s a wonderful feel good movie, no Shia Le Bouef but the lead is another teenager with everyday problems who finds Bumble Bee after his throat has been ripped apart to remove his voice simulator.

If you don’t like the transformers movies then I would give this a miss but there is another movie (again from last year) that I have seen, while on lockdown and that was Yesterday, premise during a technical glitch on planet earth everyone (apart from a few who were incognito when the glitch happened) have forgotten all about the Beatles. One of them is a singer who, when he realises no one can remember the Beatles makes a fortune out of plagiarising their songs and music and releasing them as his own.

Ed Sheeran may not be everyone’s cup of tea but how he managed to keep a straight face when listening to Yesterday, Back in the USSR and other classic Lennon/McCartney compositions is beyond me. I still have the Die Hard box set to watch, Lethal Weapon movies and the Matrix trilogy so I think I will finish off for now and go and do something productive with my Easter Monday before I settle down for a binge fest of Mel Gibson or Bruce Willis. Catch up again before long, hopefully the lockdown will last a few more weeks and we can get together over a beer or short if you prefer and laugh at some of the things we have done to keep ourselves amused.

Take care, stay indoors as much as possible and keep yourself safe.

Tell a lie, make it a whopper Part 2

Goebbels coined the phrase that if you tell a huge lie often enough then people will believe it is the truth. The Republican Party in the USA and the CONservative Party in the UK have really taken this to heart in recent years. Indeed in the run up to the General Election in 2019, Michael Gove, the Minister most likely to be coked up, told reporters that the Tories were telling lies all the time because “it wins (us) elections, therefore why would we ever revert back to telling the truth?”

On the 12 December 2019 he was, unsurprisingly, proved right on the money with his prediction, after ruining the best man to handle the covid-19 crisis we are currently experiencing. So much so that he is standing down once his party finds a new leader this Saturday. BoJo has done his usual disappearing act, claiming he has been tested positive for covid-19, he displays no symptoms, no cough, no sneezing, no shortage of breath, making the vast majority of the country convinced he has lied to avoid facing any harsh questions about why he hasn’t made it clear who constitutes a key worker and who doesn’t. Why the Health and Caring Professionals are not being tested and do not have adequate PPE supplies to ensure their safety.

I am staying in and avoiding people as much as possible because on the 27th of this month I turn 66, also having a damaged liver, heart and kidney disease I’m at risk of dying if I do catch this virus. (The heart and kidney disease isn’t very serious though as I’m heart lazy and kidney be bothered). Hey you have to laugh or else you’d cry, I’m already going stir crazy, my wife is working from home, has been promised to have her chair delivered to her for the last 3 weeks yet is still waiting and her back is suffering because the only chair she can sit on for 8 hours a day is a dining room chair designed for an hour maximum twice a day.

She is on a final written warning because of her sick, that’s why she is keeping on putting up with the pain in her lower back and neck but won’t be able to continue indefinitely. I’m so glad that I’ve retired but the money I get from my pension doesn’t cover the rent far less any of the bills, which isn’t going to be very promising if anything were to happen to my wife.

Anyway, enough of a rant for today, as always my dear reader, in these troubling times please keep your distance from others and stay safe, remaining indoors as much as possible.
