How to ruin a good night out- Part first
by davebarclay1954
Last night my wife and I went to a family member’s birthday party. Because I was on call at work I couldn’t drink so my wife decided to act as dedicated driver. When we left the club at around 10:15 we said goodbye to our youngest grandchildren and parents then walked round to the car park only to find someone had driven into our car, almost breaking the door and had left trace of their car embedded in the damage.
We went back to the club and found no-one had reported it, but they would have been caught on cctv. After dropping our eldest and 3 of her children at home we went home and reported the incident to the police. Now it’s a waiting game to see what comes of this.

I’m so sorry to hear this. The person may not have had insurance, which is why s/he didn’t even leave a note. I hope it all works out in your favour.
Thank you, Persia, having looked at the cctv footage he, indeed it was a he, doesn’t have a leg to stand on. After reversing into the car, he pulled forward, turned round to shine his headlights on the damage before driving off at speed.
The police have been informed and it’s now just a waiting game. I don’t think he realised the cctv was there as his face is clearly visible. No sign of emotion at all. He must have insurance as he drives a lorry for Nexus, the Metro operator up here. The police pointed out that he committed a lot of offences by driving off. Driving without due care and attention, fleeing the scene of an accident, failure to report, failure to exchange details and, this is the kicker for me, causing criminal damage. He can be fined, given up to 15 points on his licence, jailed for up to 2 years and any of the above will cost him his job.
Was it worth it? All he had to do, really, was to leave his details at the door and this could’ve been dealt with civilly without the need to involve the police. Idiot or what?
Hope you enjoyed your weekend, and without incident my dear friend. Hugs and kisses to you and Max.
Oh my. It really wasn’t worth it at all. I’m just glad the camera was there. Some people just don’t think about the consequences of their actions.
Our weekend was fine thanks. Have a great week.
Much love. x
Nice short week, then a long weekend, time to relax and get rid of this cold before it cripples me. Enjoy your week and the Easter weekend.
You too. x
It is awful but better than being the person that did this. They have to live with themselves. Can’t be too pleasant. A car can be fixed a person’s integrity can take a lot more.
Isn’t that the truth. As I said in part 2, if he’d reported it and left contact details then it would be in the hands of the insurance companies and the police wouldn’t have been involved. Whatever he gets he deserves and I’m just so pleased everything was caught on camera.
